Florence is a community that flourishes with the support of Chamber, City Council and Administration, Lane County and the many residents who are filled with the pride of this coastal town. Tourism is one of our main industries, so there are a lot of indoor and outdoor activities to be enjoyed. We have a vibrant Historic Old Town set on the Siuslaw River, with a marina at the east side and the architecturally interesting Siuslaw Bridge on the west side. The fine and casual dining restaurants, art galleries and unique shops are favorites of the locals as well as visitors.
In addition to Old Town, we have a wonderful antique district, active performing and visual arts culture and events center, full service grocery and department stores, medical center, several banks, hardware stores, innovative public schools including community college and every service a household may need. Although our area population is under 20,000, a resident does not have to travel to other cities for their services and purchases.
Because we are centrally-located on the coast, we are just about equidistant from the north and south boundaries of the state with many quaint and interesting cities along the way, and only an hour away from Eugene, where residents travel for outstanding sports and arts events.
Florence is a “City on the Move” and residents of all ages find it to be an ideal location for work and play so well stated by one of our Facebook friends, ”
