Unique charm, breathtaking architecture and the photo-worthy scenery were the among characteristics that enticed destination travel writer, Chloe Mulliner of Expedia’s Viewfinder Travel Blog to recently list Florence as #1 in the list of the top 30 must see destinations in the U.S.
Mulliner’s description of Florence stated “Everyone admires Oregon’s lush, green forests, but there’s certainly something alluring about the state’s rugged coastline. Sand dunes and rolling waves border the western edge of Florence, an attractive waterfront town at the mouth of the Siuslaw River. The area is surrounded by scenic vistas, from the nation’s largest sea cave, packed with sea lions, to the aptly named Hobbit Trail, a tree-canopied hike reminiscent of Middle Earth.”
“All of the towns were selected based on a combination of the staff’s personal experiences in these towns, online research and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from both visitors and locals. Florence in particular stood out for its various scenic wonders, and for being an under the radar oceanfront destination with welcoming small town charm,” remarks Kimberly Deese, the communications specialist for Expedia.
Florence was in good company as one of the 30 cities named in the article, with St. Simons Island, Georgia, Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Cape May, New Jersey, Hawi, Hawaii and Skaneateles, New York also making this important list.
