Forty-plus miles of the central Oregon coast, stretching from Florence south to Coos Bay, are home to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Here, majestic sand dunes hundreds of feet high provide a habitat for forests, rivers, wetlands, and wildlife.
Recreational opportunities abound for hikers, nature-lovers, photographers and off-road vehicle enthusiasts. Just seeing the dunes, as you can from the many vantage points in the Florence area is an unforgetable experience. In addition to some of the states finest beach areas the ODNRA includes numerous campgrounds, hiking trails, boat launch sites, and picnicking areas.
