Freshwater lakes abound in this central coast area and offer a wide variety of opportunities. From well-known lakes such as *Siltcoos and Tahkenitch to the lesser known Lily Lake, the fishing experience can truly be world-class. Seventeen of the lakes in and around Florence are stocked with rainbow trout by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Fishing in the Florence area is best described as "uniquely diverse." Bluegill, catfish, largemouth and smallmouth bass, Cutthroat and Rainbow trout, black crappie, and yellow perch are just some of the species that can be found in our lakes year round. Licensing is required for all fishing.

Named after Siuslaw National Forest, The Siuslaw River accomodates approximately 100 miles of fishing grounds for residents and visitors alike.
"Imagine if you will" catching a forty pound Chinook salmon or a six foot sturgeon in September. If you lile to fish bring your spinner baits because you're also likely to catch steelhead in the winter, or cutthroat in August and September.

The Siuslaw runs right through florence and heads inland where several private and public boat ramps allowing easy access.
Two campgrounds owned by the Bureau of Land Management are also available near the upper Siuslaw River. Whittaker Creek has 31 sites and Clay Creek has 26 sites.
