- The level of the lake varies greatly from year to year depending on the amount of rainfall. In most years the lake is low enough to provide easy bank access for fishing. The lake is a great place for family camping in the summer because it receives less wind than many of the other coastal lakes, the water tends to be a little warmer and well suited for swimming, and the campground has easy access to sand dunes that lie west of the lake.
