A Dickens Christmas ![]() Our 2009 collectable ornament (fund raiser) which is available at several Old Town merchants. (Pre-Festival Activities) Monday, November 30: Public is invited to help transform Old Town into a Victorian village. Light posts will be decorated and the town tree erected beginning at 7:30am, needing brave folks who aren’t afraid of heights. Thursday, December 3 Participating Old Town storefronts and buildings will be ready for Christmas.Kids’ Victorian Coloring Contest (watch for information in Siuslaw News). Pictures to be displayed at Siuslaw Public Library (9th and Maple) through December. Friday, December 4 Participating Old Town Merchant windows will be judged by town dignitaries.Victorian High Tea, Lovejoy’s Tearoom (195 Nopal), 11am-3pm. Dickensian Delights: a Dickens menu inspired by the Victorian Era, Feast! restaurant (294 Laurel), 11am-11pm. Florence Arts on the Coast Sell-2-Share Festival of the Arts, Florence Events Center, 4-9pm. Florence Food Share Empty Bowls Fundraiser, Florence Events Center, 5-9pm. Tree Lighting Ceremony, Old Town Gazebo, 6pm: Mayor Brubaker to officiate; Harbor Masters, music Winning window display will be awarded at the ceremony. Town Decorating: bring red ribbon to the tree lighting and help decorate the town. Pinecone decorations were created by Boys and Girls Club. Saturday, December 5 Free hayrides will make a circuit from Siuslaw Valley Christian Center (9th and Maple), where a dry place to wait for the ride will be provided, 10am-6pm. Fresh-baked cookies provided to the hayriders as they pass by Feast! restaurant (294 Laurel). Special showing of Disney’s “A Christmas Carol,” Florence Cinemas (1930 Hwy 101), 10am. Florence Arts on the Coast Sell-2-Share Festival of the Arts, Florence Events Center, 10am-4pm. Victorian High Tea, Lovejoy’s Tearoom (195 Nopal), 11am-3pm.
